Chris is Walking & Running 180km to raise funds for The Leprosy Mission

From 25 March to 24 April, I am hoping to cover the distance of 180km on foot. I want to do this to stand alongside some incredible Leprosy Changemakers in Mozambique, so we can finally see an end to leprosy in this beautiful but poverty-stricken country.

Every day, Gabriel travels up to 180km (112 miles) on his motorbike on red dirt tracks in the baking heat, to find and cure people with leprosy in Mozambique. When Gabriel arrives in a village, he is greeted with excitement and shouts of joy, because people know he has come to help. Gabriel has a keen eye for noticing symptoms of leprosy, such as discoloured skin patches and loss of feeling that are early signs of leprosy. He provides the cure for leprosy, as well as emotional support.

Other Leprosy Changemakers like Gabriel travel 180km per day to reach out to people with leprosy. These Changemakers themselves have often had leprosy. They have felt the pain of being forced to live alone. They have felt the agony of being separated from loved ones. They have seen the loss of their livelihoods. But not anymore! They are now leading the fight against leprosy in Mozambique. Through education and training, they have been welcomed back into the community and dedicate their time to educating others. You can find out more at www.unconditionalappeal.org.uk

I am inviting you to join this community of Leprosy Changemakers and become one yourself. Together we'll stop at nothing to end leprosy transmission, disability and discrimination in Mozambique.

Please donate what you can today. Better still, when you donate before 24 April, the UK Government will double your donation so that it will have twice the impact in Mozambique!

It costs £24 to find and cure a person of leprosy, which means that until 24 April, a gift of £24 brings the cure to 2 people. I would love to be able to bring the cure to 50 people before 24 April. Please will you support my challenge? Together we can end leprosy in Mozambique.

Thank you so much!

Chris :)
